- The Buffalo Nickel or Indian Head Nickel was created by the U.S. Mint from 1913 to 1938 and is a mixture of copper and nickel. The coin features an American Indian and a majestic bison and is one of the most famous of American coins. Each coin is unique with no two alike. Each coin is hand painted with a beautiful blue color to contrast the silver. After which, each coin is covered with a special resin to preserve the finish. The perfect heirloom piece that can be passed from generation to generation.
