Winter Has Finally Come
For years winter has been coming, the fate of the Iron Throne hanging in the balance, and it’s finally arrived with the epic final season of Game of Thrones. If you need to catch up before its premiere, you can learn more about all the major characters, houses, and events at the HBO Game of Thrones’s Viewer’s Guide.
In the meantime, we have new accessories to help you show off your allegiance to your favorite household.
House Targaryen – Fire & Blood
House Targaryen has a long and tumultuous history. According to the Game of Thrones Wiki, House Targaryen of Dragonstone ruled the Seven Kingdoms for three centuries after they conquered and unified the realm. During Robert’s Rebellion the House was overthrown, and House Baratheon replaced it as the new ruling royal House. The two surviving Targaryens were exiled to the Free Cities of Essos across the Narrow Sea, but recently House Targaryen, led by Daenerys, has sought to retake the Seven Kingdoms from House Lannister (House Lannister replaced House Baratheon as the royal House following the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor) allying with Jon Snow to protect the land from the White Walkers.
House Targaryen’s sigil is a three-headed red dragon on a black background, and their house words are “Fire and Blood.” You can show your allegiance to this rising House with a pair of cufflinks featuring their bold sigil.
House Stark – Winter is Coming
According the Game of Thrones Wiki, House Stark of Winterfell ruled over the vast white North from their hereditary seat in Winterfell. It is one of the oldest lines of Westerosi nobility, with a line of descent going back over eight thousand years. Before the Targaryen’s ruled, the leaders of House Stark ruled over the region as the Kings in the North.
Their rule in the North seemingly ended after the events of the Red Wedding when King Robb Stark was murdered and the North was taken over by House Bolton. However, after their victory in the Battle of the Bastards, House Stark was restored to their former stature, with Ned Stark’s illegitimate son Jon Snow as the King in the North. Later, Jon Snow abdicated his title as king to gain the support of Daenerys Targaryen in the Great War, and he became the Warden of the North.
House Stark’s sigil is a grey direwolf on a white background, over a green escutcheon. Unlike the other Houses, the House Stark family motto is a warning: “Winter Is Coming.” With the end in sight, and the fate of Jon Snow and the Starks hanging by a thread, you can join their fight with a pair of brave and bold cufflinks.
House Lannister – Hear Me Roar
House Lannister of Casterly Rock is one of Westeros’ richest and most powerful families, in addition to being one of the oldest dynasties. The Lannisters rule over the Westerlands from Casterly Rock as the Lords Paramount of the Westerlands and Wardens of the West. Currently, they’re the royal house of the Seven Kingdoms following the overthrow of House Baratheon, and rule directly over the Crownlands. The incestuous relationship between Cersei and Jaime was originally concealed and their son Joffrey Baratheon claimed the Iron Throne, claiming that he was actually fathered by the late King Robert Baratheon. However, the truth was ultimately revealed and Joffrey was murdered, leaving his mother, Cersei as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
House Lannister’s sigil consists of a golden lion on a crimson background, and their House words are “Hear me roar!” Their unofficial motto, which is perhaps better known than the official one, is “A Lannister always pays his debts.” Enjoy a smaller share of the wealth and prominence of the Lannister House when you wear their sigil on your sleeves.
