Some people collect historical artifacts to be reminded of sentimental moments in their past. Tokens & Icons collects them in order to repurpose them into elegantly crafted cufflinks and other functional gifts. If you love the past and remember it with nostalgia, then our collection of cufflinks by this amazing design house may be just what you’re looking for.
A Walk Down Memory Lane
Tokens & Icons was founded more than twenty years ago when they were licensed by the New York City Metro Transit Authority to create cufflinks featuring the iconic retired NY Subway tokens. Before long other transit authorities, including those in Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco also approached them and asked them to create officially-licensed items with their retired tokens.
With that simple start, Tokens & Icons began its journey of acquiring authentic artifacts and featuring them in classic designs of functional gifts.
“From authentic vintage typewriter keys to a Pan Am fuselage to Buffalo Nickels to watch movements from the early 20th century, Tokens & Icons aims to bring a new life and purpose to the memorable everyday objects of our past.”
Take Me Out to the Ball Game
In 2006, Tokens & Icons was acquired by BallPark Pens and entered the world of creating authentic sports artifacts. A few years later, the design house was licensed by the MLB to become a producer of gifts made from Authenticated Game Used baseballs, uniforms, and broken bats.
Since then they have become licensed by the National Hockey League, the PGA TOUR, and a growing list of top-ranked collegiate football and basketball programs. Because authenticity is so important, they work directly with licensors to obtain and document the chain of custody of each jersey, ball and helmet, thus ensuring that each fan’s purchase is 100% authentic.
A Bright Future
Tokens & Icons has continued to forge new relationships and acquire more artifacts. They have branched out in their acquisitions to celebrate a greater diversity of icons: from planes, trains and automobiles; to the sports you love to play and watch; to the tokens and coins that once circulated through millions of hands.
Because they value authenticity and craftsmanship so highly, they make sure their products are only crafted in a few locations by highly-skilled artisans: Mexico, India, and the USA. Together they are constantly working to bring authenticity, craftsmanship and functionality to the gifting experience.
We love the diverse and unique line of products that Tokens & Icons offer. And we know you’ll love them, too. Check out our entire line here. If you need help choosing or have questions, please contact our helpful support team at 1-866-4MY-CUFF. They’re always available to help.
Simon Carter is a menswear designer and retailer based in London. He and his brand are particularly well known for their accessories such as cufflinks, watches, jewelry and luggage. Additionally, the business has branched out into clothing, and now offers a wide range of formal and casual clothing. At Cufflinks Depot we proudly offer you an entire line of Simon Carter cufflinks and accessories.
Simon Carter, the brand was founded by a businessman of the same name in the 1980s. It began as a wholesale business before going on to open his first store in London’s famous Regents Street.
The Man Behind the Brand
Simon Carter, himself a visionary man with a penchant for revolutionizing the men’s fashion industry, was named the “Most Stylish Man of the Year” in 2015. His brand was named the “Menswear Brand of the Year” in 2013. He has been awarded many other accolades in addition to these. He also holds the distinction of being the most successful international designer.
Simon Carter is, according to himself, often to be found wandering around at auctions and in antique shops seeking inspiration and looking for items with a particular heritage and inspiration. He passionately believes that harmony of form and function are what every serious designer should aim for and that taste is paramount, particularly in this age where we are surrounded by “flat pack furniture, ‘hospital corridor’ art and Euro-box cars, designed by committee, regulated by commission and screwed together by robots” (Simon Carter).
“And it really boils down to this: design is not a luxury.” – Simon Carter
A man who seeks to answer the problem of the demands of consumption over quality, Simon Carter’s vision is to pay tribute to significant moments in the history of design, in art and in the decorative arts. He produces “products of integrity at great prices.”
When it comes to his cufflinks he calls them “‘sculptures you wear’ deriving from a long and thorough engagement with art deco and other movements in the decorative and fine arts. From restrained, subtle plays of form against the anatomy of construction to flamboyant, unabashedly beautiful or frivolous designs festooned with Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones, all impeccably turned out.”
Simon Carter: A Global Brand
Simon Carter has seven standalone designer brand stores in some of the most exclusive locations in the UK and his designs and clothing are stocked in most major British department stores. He has recently expanded his brand into India.
Cufflinks Depot is proud to offer a wide selection of Simon Carter cuff links and accessories. There is truly something for every occasion and taste. If you need help selecting the perfect pair, please give us a call at 1-866-4MYCUFF and our friendly representatives would be happy to aid you.
Robin Rotenier was a Paris-born designer who founded his namesake line in 1993. Coming from a line of designers, the world of jewelry design was a familiar place for him. Yet, instead of sticking to the tried and true, Rotenier brought elegance and grace to his designs and creating a stand-out line of products that are sold in many of the finest stores around the world. You can view our entire collection of Robin Rotenier cufflinks here.
Award Winning and World Renown
Rotenier got his start studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the Gemological Institute of America. His work there won him several awards, including the Mortimer C. Ritter Award, one of the highest honors given out by the Alumni Association, making him the first jewelry designer to win that award. In 2008 he was asked to join the inaugural group of ten “Designers of Distinction and later received a men’s wear AGTA Spectrum Award in 2014.
Robin Rotenier: A Storyteller at Heart
Drawing inspiration from objects and architectural details, Rotenier crafted a story into each of his pieces. By carving his models by hand, and finishing each piece by hand, he distinguished his work from machine-made items. His passion for design and attention to details truly set his work apart.
“I am a storyteller, and I love to express myself in the jewelry I create.” – Robin Rotenier
The pieces that Rotenier designed range in prices, styles, and materials. They’ve been described as having unmatched cleverness, irony, and beauty.
A Tragic End to an Industry Icon
Mere weeks before the 2014 jewelry industry trade shows, Robin Rotenier committed suicide, shocking his friends and family, and rocking the entire jewelry industry. Many remembered his kindness and compassion, relating stories of his generosity towards others, such as the time when he gave a troupe of Girl Scouts a personal tour of his jewelry studio and let them mold and make their own sterling silver cufflinks for free (read more here). However, his legacy lives on in his design house and the intricately crafted cufflinks that made him so well known.
An Impressive Collection
At Cufflinks Depot we are proud and honored to carry a large collection of cufflinks by Robin Rotenier. If you have any questions or are looking for something specific, please contact us at 1-866-4MYCUFF and we’d be happy to help you.
In 1990, Tateossian London was founded by Robert Tateossian because he wanted to provide men and women a distinctive way to express their style and personality. Through meticulous craftsmanship and with a unique, playful style, he accomplished just that. View the entire collection here.
The Man Behind the Brand
Robert Tateossian was born in Kuwait and educated at French schools in Rome before studying international finance at the prestigious Wharton School of Finance in Pennsylvania. After graduating, he went on to a successful career with Merrill Lynch on Wall Street and in London.
Eventually, his keen eye for detail, his creative flair, and his love of luxury drew him to leave banking, and he turned to jewelry and accessory design. Then, in 1990, he founded his design house: Tateossian London.
A man who is not limited by modern conventions, Tateossian has no qualms about matching unusual materials to create unique and interesting designs. His designs combine precious jewels, dinosaur bones, carbon fibre, crystals, and more.
Three Core Qualities
Tateossian adheres strictly to three core values: Innovation, creativity and quality
Innovation – Tateossian prides itself as being known as a design house that pushes the boundaries of jewelry design. It is one of the only brands to successfully marry motion and original design.
Creativity – Tateossian is inspired by the world. Having been raised in multiple locations and being fluent in several languages, travel, religion, art, and fashion, are all aspects that inspiration that challenge him to find new materials and stones and to take these explorations and his experiences and turn them into beautifully crafted pieces.
Quality – Because quality is such a high priority, Tateossian works primarily in silver, also having an exclusive collections in 18 Karat gold. Each individual piece is meticulously and delicately crafted before being rigorously inspected and placed into its own Tateossian box.
Tateossian Today
Today, Tateossian has branched out from being just a designer of exquisite cufflinks, to a purveyor of a wide range of accessories: from watches to money clips, rings, necklaces and bracelets all with the trademark use of innovative and striking materials. A women’s line has also flourished with elegant statement pieces in a wide range of colors and styles.
Based in London, Tateossian is an international company of over 70 employees with showrooms in London and New York. Its products are sold in some of the top boutiques and department stores in the world, including Harrods in London, Saks in New York, and Isetan in Tokyo.
Robert Tateossian still spends 70% of his time traveling the world, looking for inspiration and gathering unique new stones and materials. His drive and passion to craft the best men’s and women’s accessories and jewelry pushes him to continue innovating and designing, to create distinctive and wearable signature pieces that reflect Robert’s own appreciation of mechanism, aesthetics and the unconventional.
Skultuna caters to both royalty and the everyday man. With fine metal products that are sure to become family heirlooms, their cufflinks are beautiful and functional. You are sure to treasure these unique pieces of jewelry. Below you’ll find some history about the brand, or you can explore their collection here.
A Little History
Skultuna was founded by King Karl IX of Sweden in 1607 as a brass factory. The King had long been desiring to start a Swedish brass industry in order to reduce dependence on brass imports and end Sweden’s indebtedness to the Hanseatic League. After scouring the country for a location that would be suitable, the town of Skultuna was chosen because of its proximity to running water that would help to power the foundry. Since the town also provided charcoal and was close the the copper mine, it was the ideal location.
The first master brass crafters were recruited from nearby countries, Germany and the Netherlands. They also brought the ability to build beautiful and elaborate chandeliers, some of which still hang in churches dating back to 1617!
Between the 15th and 16th centuries, the various designers at Skultuna became world renown for their creations. They also developed processes and work methods that became standardized. Several of their designers were granted prestigious awards for their craftsmanship and designs, some of which are still displayed in the museum in Skultuna.
In the later 1900s, other well known designers contributed their skills to the Skultuna line with designs that are uniquely Scandinavian: strict and contemporary in style.
Skultuna Today
The factory at Skultuna has faced many challenges, including floating away in a flood, and burning down completely three different times. Each time it was rebuilt and remodeled to improve upon the original structure. Now, for over 400 years, Skultuna has produced products of the finest craftsmanship, both for everyday use and for special occasions. They also continue to be purveyors to the Royal Court of Sweden.
With two products lines, home accessories and fashion accessories, Skultuna partners with some of the leading International designers to create its lines and win many international design awards. The production in the Skultuna factory has continued in an unbroken tradition since the early 17th century, and it’s still one of Europe’s leading design houses.
In addition to producing beautifully crafted cufflinks and other home products, Skultuna has a museum, cafe, and shoppes that visitors can explore to learn the rich history of the company. It has become one of the most visited places in Sweden!
The Perfect Choice
Today, Skultuna’s cufflinks can be found in department stores around the world, as well as here on Cufflinks Depot. If you’re looking for a piece to complete your suit, tuxedo, or casual shirt, look no further than the Skultuna line.
As always, we’d love to help you, whether you’re shopping for yourself or for a gift. Please call 1866-4MY-CUFF, and a friendly representative will answer your questions and assist you in your choice.
Jan Leslie began her own line of cufflinks after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania and spending some time consulting with a large accounting firm. Her passion for design led her to open her own jewelry design business. Eighteen years later, her line includes a diverse collection of men’s accessories that are sold exclusively in a handful of select luxury stores around the globe (including here at Cufflinks Depot).
Called a visionary in her field, Jan Leslie continually redefines menswear with her vibrant hand-painted enamels and gorgeous semi-precious stone collections. From beautiful classics to irreverent showstoppers, Leslie’s cufflinks are highly sought-after by stylish men.
Jan Leslie is well-known for her collection of sterling silver hand-painted enamel pieces that use artisanal methods to produce unique works with understated elegance. According to their website, this “creative process begins with the study of the actual subject–insect, animal or otherwise. Next a wax prototype is sculpted then cast in sterling silver and polished smooth. The creation is then individualized through a technique of meticulously hand painting layers of enamel, creating the desired blend of color and luminescence.”
By reinterpreting and reimagining the world around her, Leslie creates beautiful works of art that reflect her spirit and imagination. Because of the high-quality components, meticulous craftsmanship, and attention to details, Jan Leslie cufflinks are fun, playful, and fashionable accessories. Every stylish (and slightly quirky) man should own at least one pair of these highly collectible cufflinks. Here at Cufflinks Depot, we want to ensure that you always have the best cufflinks and most sought-after designers to choose from. We offer a large collection of Jan Leslie cufflinks here. Our convenient online store allows you to shop from the comfort of home. And with fast and free shipping on orders over $29, plus a free gift, we make it easy to dress with style and class (and sometimes even a bit of sass).
